The Swedish National Museum of Science and Technology's collections tell the story of Sweden's technological and industrial development. From historic inventions and photographs to drawings, archival documents, films and books, much of our material can be explored online.

Objects and photographs

Discover the history of technology through objects and photographs from different eras. Our collections include everything from aircraft and industrial machinery to telephones, computers and everyday technology.

Archive

Our archives contain records from companies, industries and individuals who have contributed to Sweden’s technological development. The collections include letters, diaries, technical drawings, maps and documents relating to Sweden’s industrial history.
You can search for archival material in the Klara archive database. Some material is also available on DigitaltMuseum.

Library, film and sound

The museum’s library contains approximately 40,000 books and a large collection of journals covering technology, industrial history and natural sciences.
Our collections also include historic films and sound recordings documenting technology, working life and social development.
Parts of the library collection can be searched online.

Research

The museum conducts research and documentation to preserve and develop knowledge about the role of technology in society.

Loans and donations

Would you like to borrow an object from our collections or donate something to the museum?

We currently focus on targeted acquisitions and no longer accept unsolicited donation offers. We are also unable to offer new loans from our collections at this time.

Visits and contact

We are currently unable to accommodate visits to our archives, library or object collections. We are also unable to process requests for archival material or photographs.
